Leawood, Kansas, is located approximately 10 miles southwest of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. With flat valleys and gently rolling hills, Leawood combines historic tradition with conscientious, dynamic movement forward.
With the population more than doubling since 1980, Leawood has a master development plan in place to ensure that the close community, peacefulness and convenience of this suburban enclave are maintained. In recent years the city has begun to match its residential growth with an increasingly diversified economic base.
Leawood is served by the Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley School Districts. Blue Valley School District boasts 75% of its teaching staff with a master’s degree or higher, and a graduation rate of 95.9%. Shawnee Mission School District, the third largest in Kansas, produced 20 National Merit Finalists in 2012 and was the only district in Kansas to be named to the 2011 AP Achievement list.
