Less than 20 miles from downtown Kansas City, Missouri, Liberty offers easy access to the amenities of a large metropolis while preserving the integrity of a small town. Founded in 1822, Liberty has five locally-designated historic districts as well as seven districts and seven properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, in addition to being named a Preserve America community by the White House in 2007. With strong neighborhoods and an active historic downtown, Liberty residents enjoy a variety of recreational and cultural activities such as the Liberty Arts Squared festival in June and the Fall Festival in September.
Liberty Public Schools has been a Missouri “High Performing School District” for 12 consecutive years, with students consistently scoring above state and national averages on standardized tests. Additionally, the Liberty Schools Board of Education was named Missouri’s Outstanding Board of Education and the district was one of three in the nation honored for technology excellence by the National School Boards Association.
